Goal setting workshop with special guest Vicki Cardwell
By Meeghan, 15 January, 2010
This week I've focused your training on goal setting for 2010; as the famous New York Yankee baseball player Lawrence "Yogi" Berra said "If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else".
With this in mind I'd like to invite you to a goal setting workshop at the studio on Friday January 29th at 6.30pm. Accompanying me will be Vicki Cardwell, a gutsy and formidable former World No.1 squash player and Australian Sport Hall of fame inductee who is now head coach of the 2011 Australian girls talent squad.
Vicki was a leading Australian squash player from the late 1970's through to the 1990's so she will have a wealth of information about not only how to become the best but how to motivate and set goals to stay physically and mentally competitive for many years. And in her new role as head coach of the girls talent squad you can also hear how she trains and encourages young athletes to become the best they can be.
To hear Vicki speak and to learn more from me about a systemised approach to goal setting which you can apply to all aspects of your life you will need to book your seat asap.
The presentation is only available to 20 people and the price for this 75 min presentation will be $15 for clients and $20 for friends of Forever Strong. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Please book early to avoid missing out.

2nd Forever Strong fun run - a great success!
By Meeghan, 4 December, 2009

Congratulations to the 30 plus participants who swapped a Sunday morning sleep in for an energising walk/ run around the Tan.
It was a beautiful morning on Sunday November 15 and a welcome relief from the heatwave earlier in the week.
We had the young, the young at heart, partners and friends; some who walked one lap and participated in their first ever 'fun run', others who ran one lap and a couple of serious joggers who went round twice!
The beauty of this event lies in its simplicity, with no huge crowds and no hard and fast rules. Some of you have continued to visit the Tan and have commented on how easy it is to travel to and how enjoyable the 3.8km track is.
The third Forever Strong Fun Run/ Walk will be on again next year and if you haven't already participated in one, do yourself a favour and join us in 2010.

Keeping fit is a walk in the park
By Ben, 12 October, 2009

Our Heart Foundation walking group has recently been confirmed as the 100th group in Victoria.
The Gaiters (from gait; manner of walking) has started strongly with a core group of roughly 10 participants and even a couple of furry friends.
We recently had a story published about our group in our local paper the Waverley Leader. Click on the link below to read the story.
If you'd like to join us for a walk, we meet every Tuesday at 8.30am at the Forever Strong studio in Andrew Street, for a one hour walk at Federal Reserve.
And we cater for all fitness levels!
2nd annual Forever Strong Fun Run
By Meeghan, 5 October, 2009
Some people say the words fun and run should never be used in the same sentence but I beg to disagree. The key to achieving a FUN run hinges on the planning you do prior to the event and the way you prepare yourself physically and mentally.
The Forever Strong Fun Run is set for Sunday November 15th at the Tan, so you have six weeks to ready, set, go! The Tan which encircles the Royal Botanic Gardens and Kings Domain, originally served as a horse track for Melbourne's well to do but today it is one of Melbourne's most frequented locations for walkers and joggers.
The first step in your planning is to decide which event you would like to participate in and there's plenty to choose from; a 3.83km walk, a 3.83km run and a 7.66km run.
If you're keen to join in let your trainer know so we can assist you in setting some achievable but challenging goals and support you in your quest.
Planning ideas might also include purchasing a decent pair of joggers and recruiting a mate to join you on the Fun Run, someone you can train with on a weekly basis.
Everyone is welcome and there will be more details to follow but for now jot this date in your diary.
