Carob Treats

A wonderful alternative to chocolate is carob and below is a Carob Treats recipe which will satisfy your sweet tooth without the guilt!

Carob Treats

Sugar and dairy free - Makes 36 mouth-size treats.

Ingredients:

2 cups carob buds/ buttons, 3 tbl honey,2 tbl peanut butter (smooth or crunchy), 2 tsp vanilla essence.

Method:

Use a double saucepan or a small pot in a big pot. Melt carob buds slowly with honey, peanut butter and vanilla essence, mixing well. Pour into a mold and refrigerate till set.

Use above as a base and add variations below:

  • Roasted slivered almonds
  • Chopped mixed dried fruit
  • Peppermint essence
  • Licorice 1-2cm lengths
